The poetry of matter
In his sculptural work, Alberto Von Fach maintains a direct dialogue with matter. Stone, wood, bronze, metal, marble, granite, jasper, lapis lazuli, malachite, chrysoprase, amber and alerce become the supports of a search in which form arises from the encounter between resistance, gesture and memory.
For the artist, every material possesses its own presence. Stone keeps its density, wood its breath, bronze the trace of fire, metal the tension of the line. Alberto Von Fach does not seek to dominate matter: he listens to it, works with it and lets emerge what it carries within.
His sculptures stand between abstraction and allusive figuration. A curve may suggest a body, a vertical form may become presence, a fissure may open an inner space. The work never offers a closed meaning: it proposes an encounter between matter, form and the one who looks.
Polished volumes and raw surfaces, silent masses and organic impulses, compact or vertical forms compose a language in which sculpture becomes sensitive memory. Each work carries the trace of a struggle with matter, but also of a deep listening to its energy.
